POD: Strike through

This is the National Cemetery Monument at the Gettysburg Battlefield.  I took this shot using a real small Nikon coolpix for a history class in college.  I wish at the time I had a nice dslr instead of the point and shoot; BUT in retrospect I really like this shot.  It’s a little blurry from some shake and grainny from editing.  I find those imperfections to be in correlation with the time period of when this monument was built and the time period it represents.  Conversely I love how the jet stream or path (whichever it’s called, I ain’t no pilot!) crossing through the rear line of site giving the message a modern flare.  Pretty cool, er am I hyping up my own mistakes hahahah!

POD: In remembrance

In a cemetery by my grandma’s house.  It’s nothing ridiculous but it’s unique.  I love the sky in this shot.

New Entries and POD: The fairy exploded again!

There has been 3 new competitors submitting 5 shots for the February Competition.  Stop by the February MCS page to view and vote!

The pod today is from my girl Shelleydlm,  I have no idea what went wrong!  I enjoy all of the colors though.

POD: I’ll huff and I’ll puff and I’ll…

A blown out door from my friend Dawn Haggerty who certainly has a knack for shooting some of the best decay compositions.  Great work Dawn!

POD: In the name

A gloomy day out and bout last Sunday when we drove past Hake St.  I stopped (like the huge nerd I am)  to take a shot at the sign with my same last name.  Kinda cool I think.

POD: Irony

Here’s an ironic snap I got last year on my old Nikon Cool pix.  This was too weird for me not to take a shot.

Off Topic: Charlies Sheen paying for a wedding?

So my friend who lives in Florida right now is engaged to a girl who lives in Pennsylvania.  He launched a site http://willcharliesheenpayformywedding.com/.  The whole point is for Charlie to agree to set up a photo shoot with my friend in order to sell the pictures to in return, pay for his wedding.  I love the site, the idea and everything surrounding it.  Please help my friend(who should have a page here any day) fulfill his warlock dreams!

What to shoot?

Spring is getting ready ro roll around the corner.  What does everyone get excited about shooting during the new bloom?  Personaly I can’t wait to get some flower macros done and maybe so bugs or butterflies.  Mainly this spring I def. want to stay focused on improving my technique and shooting more macro.  I love macro.  I love b and w photos.  I love taco bell.

POD: Some type of berries!

How do you like it?

So as I  delve deeper into photography I am beginning to figure out two things.  First, I am really in love whit black and white photography.  It’s classy, it’s timeless it makes you think, it does so much.  Secondly I am a huge fan of decay.  Urban or rural i’ll shoot it whenever and wherever.  I do still like landscape and scenery as well as people but the decay angle is awesome.

The decay style just makes me think to what was this place or building before it’s current state, how did it get to this state, what will ultimately happen to these conditions, will anyone save it……  I hope not.  I love to shoot the digression of anything, except people – that’s just weird.  Toys, cars, people, monuments, building, scenery animal blah blah I love it all.  Iam happy to have found photography and I look forward to the possibilities of my art!
